Some rare and costly procedures, like heart and liver transplants, are covered through a special corpus fund.

Amounts and rules can change, so please confirm the current details on the official site.

## Who can apply, and who cannot?

The scheme is only for residents of Maharashtra.

Families with a valid yellow or orange ration card, an Antyodaya card or an Annapurna card are the main beneficiaries.

After the 2023 revamp, the scheme became universal, so more families are now covered.

Your family must be in the state's beneficiary records to get cashless treatment.

Check the official site for the latest income and category rules before you plan treatment.

## A little background on the scheme

The scheme began in 1997 as Jeevandayee Yojana, covering only a few serious illnesses.

It was revamped in 2012 as Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojana and rolled out across all districts.

It was later renamed Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, and it now works alongside the central PM-JAY scheme.

The Public Health Department runs it, through the State Health Assurance Society.

## What documents should you keep ready?

Keep your ration card, which can be yellow, orange, Antyodaya or Annapurna.

Keep your Aadhaar card and a mobile number linked to your family members.

Carry a passport size photo if the hospital asks for it.

Keep any earlier treatment papers, as they help with follow-up care.

## How do you check eligibility and register online?

Go to jeevandayee.gov.in and look for the eligibility or beneficiary search option.

Enter your ration card number or Aadhaar details to check if your family is listed.

If your name is missing, visit an Aaple Sarkar or Common Service Centre to update your details.

Keep a printout or screenshot of your status for hospital staff.

## How do you apply offline, at a hospital or centre?

You can also go to any empanelled hospital's MJPJAY help desk with your ration card and Aadhaar.

The staff will verify your eligibility and guide you through the cashless process.

Government primary health centres and urban health centres are also being added to the scheme.

Ask at the help desk before admission, so there is no surprise bill.

## What if your treatment is stuck or you face a problem?

First, speak to the hospital's MJPJAY help desk and ask for a written reason.

Hospitals have reported delayed payments in the past, so ask about the claim status before discharge.

You can raise a complaint on the official website or through the state's grievance channels.

Never pay an agent to get your card or treatment approved. Such requests are fraud.
