Who can apply, and who cannot?
The girl must be a permanent resident of Madhya Pradesh. This scheme is only for residents of that state.
She must have been born on or after 1 January 2006. The family should be below the poverty line and must not pay income tax.
Only the first two girl children in a family are covered. In case of twins, a third girl child can also be covered.
A girl adopted into a family is also eligible, with an official adoption certificate for orphans.
A girl who drops out of school is no longer eligible for the education payments. The final amount also needs the girl to stay unmarried until 18.
Why was this scheme started?
The scheme began in 2007 under the Madhya Pradesh Government. It aims to reduce female infanticide and improve the status of girls.
It also encourages families to value the birth, health and education of girl children.
The Women and Child Development Department runs it, and district officials monitor its progress.
What documents should you keep ready?
Keep the girl's birth certificate and Aadhaar card, if she has one.
Keep the parents' Aadhaar cards, a bank passbook in the girl's or parent's name, and residence proof.
Keep an income or poverty line certificate, and the adoption certificate if the girl is adopted or an orphan.
Keep school admission proof and an Anganwadi enrolment record, as these are needed for the payments.

How can you apply offline?
You can visit your nearest Anganwadi centre, Gram Panchayat, or government office for help.
Staff there can help fill the form and collect the needed papers.

How do you check status, and what if a payment is stuck?
Use the status check option on the official portal with your application number.
Most delays happen when Aadhaar or bank account details do not match, or school records are missing.
