So what does this scheme actually give farmers?

The scheme does not give a fixed cash amount to each farmer. It works on farming in the selected districts.

It aims to raise farm productivity and encourage crop diversification. It also supports natural and organic farming.

It will expand post-harvest storage at panchayat and block levels. It will also improve irrigation facilities.

It aims to make both short-term and long-term farm credit easier to get. The government says about 1.7 crore farmers are expected to benefit.

Which districts are covered, and who is in them?

The scheme focuses on 100 districts that have low farm productivity, low cropping intensity and limited credit.

At least one district from each state and Union Territory is included. More districts go to states with larger farmed areas.

The scheme is open to farmers living in these selected districts. It is not a national scheme open to every farmer.

Your district is chosen by the government. You cannot apply for it on your own.

How is the scheme run, and who plans the work?

The scheme was approved by the Union Cabinet in July 2025. It is the first scheme focused only on agriculture and allied sectors.

It was modelled on NITI Aayog's Aspirational Districts Programme. It is run by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

A District Dhan-Dhaanya Samiti will prepare a District Agriculture and Allied Activities Plan. Progressive farmers are members of this committee.

Progress in each district is tracked monthly on 117 key performance indicators through an online dashboard.

What should a farmer keep ready?

Keep your Aadhaar card and your bank account details ready. Many farm schemes need them.

Keep your land records, such as khatauni or the record of rights, handy. Your district office may ask for them.

Keep your mobile number active. Most updates will come by phone or through the district office.

How can a farmer get involved?

There is no single online form for this scheme. Farmers get help through district plans and existing programmes.

Visit your district agriculture office or Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Ask whether your district is in the 100 selected districts.

Ask about the district plan and which farm services are running in your area.

How do you check whether your district is included?

Visit agriwelfare.gov.in and look for updates on the scheme.

You can also ask your block agriculture officer or district agriculture office directly.

What should you watch out for?

Never pay anyone to get a place in this scheme. Government support is free.

Be careful of agents who ask for money or personal bank details over phone calls or messages.

Use only official websites and offices to get information.
